“Block printing allows me to reimagine work I’ve created in other mediums, strip it back down to it’s most basic form, and work within a layered artform that feels like a meditation. As I carve the design from my linoleum blocks, they take on a different form, force me to pay attention to the lines and curves in a gentle excavation that requires time, patience, and an openness to let go a bit and trust the flow of the work. As a multi-faceted artist with decades of graphic arts work under my belt, constantly immersed in my literary arts practice, the messiness of this artform helps me embrace imperfections and just ‘be’ in the work.“
